The picturesque Finger Lakes area is New York's largest wine producing region comprising nearly 9,000 square miles and producing over 41,000 tons of grapes. The Finger Lakes wineries produce a wide range of wines such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Vidal Blanc, Seyval Blanc and many unique native varietals.
There are dozens of wineries located on Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka, Conesus and Hemlock Lakes within the wine region. Due to the lakes great depth, the Finger Lakes provide a beneficial and essential "lake effect" to the vineyards that line their shores.
